The purpose of these files is to enable FFE commanders to experience flying the craft of their choice, albeit in a limited capacity. For this purpose, the crew complement of each and every ship is set to 1, so that it can be flown immediately.

However, the capacities of these craft are severely limited and, in the case of the larger ships, hyperspace ranges are insufficient to leave the current system. Selling the craft in the shipyard will return the vessel to its original specification, but its cost will also return to normal, thus making immediate re-purchase impossible.

It must be emphasised that the purpose of these files is for experimentation only, not for the needs of a serious commander. Some ships, especially those not normally available to the pilot, can cause problems on the ship's data screen. Their rotation will obscure large parts of the display but will not cause the program to malfunction. To clear the display, simply click on a different icon on the ship's console.
